My thoughts ......

Well its been an era I didn’t turn up to put anything on my blog and finally I got some time from my “Not-so-busy“ schedule and as the owner of this blog I reserve the rights to write anything here so if you have enough time to waste, then you can read this crap.
Well this time again I would try to incline my post towards some philosophy which is part of my weird imagination. Day before yesterday I watched a movie called “DASVIDANIYA” in which apna hero Vinay pathak was supposed to die because of stomach cancer, so he decides to make a “Things to do list “ or you can say he decides his priorities in life. I liked the movie very much and I have also decided to set my priorities but don’t worry folks I am not gonna die so soon, but still one should have his/her priorities in life.

Well I have decided that happiness is my first and last priority now. I have decided to be happy in all circumstances and in every footing. Also I have realized that if u really want to be happy then work for happiness of all beings, your friends, family, relatives.

If you will follow the path of happiness you wouldn’t find any enemy because I firmly believe that road of happiness starts from the point where road of hatred ends.

Now I have decided that I will express myself with truth, authenticity and transparency. I will try to judge myself and will stop judging others. Also I will try to forgive the mistake of others regardless of the harm that mistake made to me.

Now I will accept the entire responsibility for my life on my own and will try to put barricade to the causes that sprout up misfortunes in my life and I will try to release my mind and inner self from all the harmful beliefs. I will try to nurture the positive attitude and salutary emotions and will abolish all severing emotions. I will try to laugh at my mistakes and misadventures.

Now my priority is to live the present moment with my heart welcoming all the happiness and love. I will interact with everybody with kindness and generosity.

I will be grateful to god, my parents, my friends and everybody for giving me this wonderful life and auspicious moments. I will try to change my life and world around me into a delightful, blissful and peaceful creation.

"Pursuit of happiness..........................." By:- "yash" (Sandeep Choudhary)

Well, today I would like to be a bit philosophical . Somedays back I had been to one shopping mall and saw a showroom of "Swatch" (for those who dont know about it ,its one of the expensive brands of watches from Switzerland) and I told my friend that I would like to buy a watch from here . Though I already own two watches, one of "Titan" and other of "Fast track" ,which are considered to be a brand good enough in India but I was coveted for "Swatch".
When I was returning from the mall to my apartment I saw a guy who had amputated hands . After seeing him I had that unsettling feeling that "how lucky I am"!!!
In our entire life, we run after the wordly pleasures and try to figure out happiness out of that materialistic outlook. But now I firmly believe that happiness is a state of mind and pleasure is a mere event.
Happiness comes from within , "if you think that you are happy you are, and if you think you aren't you aren't.
Pleasure is driven by egocentric desire ,on the contrary happiness is related to the longing of the soul . Pleasure remains for a moment but happiness stays forever. But to make that happiness stay with you , one should have ability to find happiness which resides in your innerself.
Desire to see a good movie is pleasure but being lost in your fantasy is happiness .
Doing introspection is pleasure but thinking about growth is happiness.
Being addicted to drug and alchohal is a pleasure but having a feeling of euphoria is happiness. Just having a dinner with your beloved in a good restaurant is pleasure but anticipating that moment is happiness which stays with you forever . Flirting with someone or having Sex with someone is pleasure which stays for the time he/she has that charm or beauty but loving someone truly is happiness which stays with you forever .(According to me loving someone truly is the biggest happiness and biggest strength of one's life) . Feeling blissful after being complemented is mere pleasure but taking someone's rude comment sportingly is happiness.
Giving punishment to someone or to take venegeance is pleasure but to forgive someone is happiness.
When I was supposed to leave for "Mata VaishnavDevi" darshan last week I asked one of my friends ,"what do you want from God ?" . She told me "nothing, I already have enough given by God , such a wonderful family, gud friends and this beautiful world , I dont want anything more from god". I saw so much contentment in her answer and I too felt contented . To be satisfied with what you already possess is real happiness , It doesnt mean that you shouldn't keep your aims high in life, you must set your goals but the first thing is you must be happy with what you already have and then try to achieve your goals beacause , If you aren't happy then even after achieving your goal you will feel unsatisfied and will have dsire to get more.
Dont search happiness around you, Happiness is in your innerself .Try to bring it out .
Cheer up and Live your Life King Size!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHAT with KASHIF SHAAD....

Hello Guys, today we have with us one of my Bestest senior of all time and my very gud friend Kashif Shaad....A man wid a brainy brain ,very much down to earth, Gold medalist of Mechanical Engg. Department ,Unit leader of NSS(National service scheme) and above all a very nice Human being :)

Kashif:- Kashif Shaad
Me: Sandeep Choudhary

Me: Hello Kashif ,its my pleasure to chat with you on "Rendezvous with Sandeep".
Kashif :Hi, nice to chat with you too.

Me: Please give your brief introduction to our readers .
Kashif : Well, after finishing up with the NIT Durgapur (Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering) I was fortunate enough to bag an Erasmus Mundus scholarship to pursue Masters in the field of Hydro-informatics and Water Management (EuroAquae). For those who are not aware of the Erasmus Mundus program, it’s a unique series of courses in the European Union under which a single course co-ordinated by a consortium of Universities rather than a single university. For example, my course is jointly held by universities in Nice (France), Newcastle (UK), Cottbus (Germany), Budapest (Hungary) and Barcelona (Spain). This allows us to choose where we want to study and of course tour around Europe as wellJ. My travels so far have kept me in Newcastle for two semesters, Cottbus for one, Nice for a project and now Swindon (UK) to do my internship.
My specialization is, as I have already mentioned, in Hydro-informatics which basically means application of information technology and computational sciences in addressing water related problems.

Me:- What feeling you had , when you carry a tag of topper of Mechanical department of N.I.T Durgapur.
Kashif :Haha, the Gold medal is now mostly a relic of bygone times. I am of course happy about it but I sorely miss that I wasn’t able to make it to our convocation ceremony and take it personally.

Me: Well,How did u achieve that mark.?
Kashif :Umm..I just tried to get things done on time, and as we had to sit through all sorts of classes for sake of attendance (I am sure everyone remembers that part ;) ) I figured it wouldn’t hurt to listen to them as well. That was basically it.

Me: How did you manage your studies alongwith the important post you hold as Unit leader of National service Scheme.
Kashif:It was quite a challenge to keep things going but actually, I enjoyed every bit of my time spent with NSS. In fact, I would rate it as the most important learning’s I have taken from NIT Durgapur. The subject matter under the degree (at least for me) mostly turned out to be obsolete but the interaction and public speaking skills that I was able to develop during my work with NSS has helped me immensely to keep a competitive edge here, and as my friends say: keep the Indian flag flying high.

Me: How do you relate your current post graduate study programme with your interest...
Kashif :I find it to be quiet in sync with my interests and intensions. Water management is a field which is coming up very fast and many developing countries like India will need experts in the very near future to manage this precious resource. I hope that I might be able to play a role in this.

Me: What tips you want to give to our readers regarding their campus placement preparation.
Kashif: Know your company and do targeted preparations. Especially for interviews, HR personal usually want to see you know about their company and will fit in. If you are able to paint a picture in which they can see you successfully working with them then more or less you are in.

Me: Tell us something about your research work and project you carried out to strenghten ur profile .
Kashif :I had a few projects, mostly done on my own or with group of friends. Most of these where for competitions, like design papers for IIT kharagpur and one for Birla institute. Things have changed now since then, as brand NIT was very new then and was difficult to get summer interns at good universities. However, the main thing is that all your work should have a common thread of interest running through them. When an independent evaluator is looking all your work he/she should see a logical connection and your interests should emerge, rather than looking like a diverse collection of ‘I did what came my way’ profile.

Me: Please give us some information about IELTS. What strategy one should adapt while preparing for exams like IELTS AND TOEFL. and tell us in brief about application procedure and study material for IELTS.
Kashif :IELTS is basically “the International English Language Testing System. It measures ability to communicate in English across all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking – for people who intend to study or work where English is the language of communication.” Similar to TOEFL, it the basic requirement to prove your English skills for foreign universities and visa requirements. I chose IELTS over TOEFL mostly because score reporting for me was easier with it (and cheaper). If one has good command on spoken and written English there is not much need for preparation as such. I don’t remember doing anything special for it. I was to appear for the exam in kal just 3-4 days after end sem exams of 7th sem. I solved a few sample papers during those 3 days.

Me: From which universities you got the admit.?
Kashif :I had applied only for four courses. Three under Erasmus mundus and one at other. Out of these I got admits in two Erasmus mundus courses. One was EuroAqaue, which I chose and other was in Mechanical engineering, with Trinity College (Dublin) and two other universities from France and Spain part of the consortium.

Me: Tell us something about challenges you faced in your life while preparing to get an admit from good university and how did you tackle it.
Kashif :Well, like most I was confused by what exactly I want to do with my life. I wasn’t sure if higher studies were my cup of tea. Besides that was the question of funding and going away from home and family. For this I had to do a lot of soul searching and so far have no reason to regret my decisions.
Unlike other from my batch, surprisingly I didn’t face any problems with the administrative issues involved (It took me about two weeks to get applications done, starting from references, attestations, mailing, etc). I guess my experience with NSS to deal with authority paid me out there. It was mid November in seventh sem when I seriously began considering higher studies abroad and by mid Jan I had applied to the four uni’s.

Me: What is ur mantra for.success
Kashif :“What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger” J
No, but seriously, learning from experience and having a little faith can take you a long way. Take advice from the multitude one meets but in the end decide for your own what your heart says is right.

Me: What else u want to share with our readers who are preparing to pursue their higher studies and want to do research work .
Kashif: It’s really a gut instinct if one wants to do research. But before making any choice please try to get your priorities straight. I see many students dabbling with management and research at the same time (which are like chalk and cheese) to achieve success as quick as possible. It’s good to keep one’s options open but money shouldn’t be the sole driving factor. Ending up doing something you don’t like can be a very frustrating situation. Try and think through what you want to achieve and rationally how can you achieve your goals.

Me: What do u want to say about this initiative (about this blog)?
Kashif : It can prove a good means recording experiences from various batches of NIT Durgapur. Really kool!! Spread it out. We have alumni spread across the face of the globe and hold the key to a treasure of stories waiting to be told. Go Sandeep...go get em J

Me: Thanks a lot for giving ur precious time .
Kashif : Ur welcome. Best of luck with ur intiative!!

"GOD GIVE ME A CHANCE" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BY-"YASH" (SANDEEP CHOUDHARY)

"As years pass by and time flies,
Its been an aeon which is going to end,
An aeon that left me in solitude ,
Now I desire to make atonement ,
For the atrocities I commited ,
Atrocities that didn't bruise anyone,
But abolished my life and built barrage to my dream"!!!,
"God give me a chance to redeem those moments ",
The moments congested with joy and splendour ,
The moments blessed with blissful life,
The moments that were my prizest possesions,
"God give me a chance to resurrect "!!!
A chance to resurrect my ambitions ,
A chance to bring back the smile that enchanted me ,
A chance to prove the worthiness of my commitment and affection ,
A chance to sprout up the love in the hearts I broke,
A chance to exhume my esteem and dignity,
"God give me a chance to live my dreams"!!
"God give me a chance to strengthen my conviction that you are there for me"!!!!!!!!!!

CHAT WITH ZISHAN ANSARI

Hello friends , Today I am feeling very nostalgic as I have with me Zishan Ansari , my dear friend from N.I.T Durgapur .Its been a great time we spent together in college days specially during ragging period and now as interviewer I am talking to my dear friend who will share with us few precious moments he spent in N.I.T Durgapur and in I.I.M Banglore.

Zish : Mohammed Zishan Ansari
Me: Sandeep choudhary

Me : Hello Zish ,its my pleasure to chat with you on "Rendezvous with Sandeep".
Zish: "Hi !!! mine too"

Me: Please give ur brief introduction to our readers.
Zish :"Mohammed Zishan Ansari, is what my name on certificates, but my friends call me with numerous names. I did my schooling in a small town of Madhya Pradesh called Shahdol, and did my B. Tech from NIT Durgapur. Right now working as Consultant -Business Analytics, with a startup of IIM Bangalore named "Marketelligent".

Me: How do u relate ur current job with with your interest. ?
Zish : I always had one thing in mind that I will always try to work in the field which gives me plethora of opportunities to grow. And what better than a startup of IIM Bangalore, that too in the field of Business Analytics which was recently introduced into the country and was making waves all over the world.

ME: How does one feel , when you carry the tag of convener of National level tech fest of your college. How did you achieve that mark.?
Zish: This has done something to me which I will be talking about my entire life. My becoming the Convener was a unanimous decision amongst the Profs. and the seniors as well as the team of our batch. But frankly speaking this was never the reason to be proud of when in college, but the work, which we as a team did, certainly was. Having organized a fest of worth INR 2.0 Million is itself a big achievement for all of us.

Me: How did u manage your studies along with the important post you hold as convener of Aarohan(Tech fest of N.I.T Durgapur) ?
Zish : Studies were never a concern for me in college, except before exams, there were so many other things to do, so much of fun, which I simply couldn't resist. I tried hard to search for the subjects which really suits my interest, but alas! I could find none, although I did a few projects in IIT D and also went IIT K, IT-BHU for workshopa, but truly speaking, I was just doing them, and was not something I want to do my entire life. This all gave me ample time to work for CCA. We tried to do many new things, many new ideas were incorporated into the activities, as well as in aarohan some worked, some didn't.

Me: After fetching job in one of India’s best PSU’S , Why did u choose Marketelligent ?
Zish: As I said, my concern was to look for something which I can do my entire life. Although there was a lot of discussion involved between me, my parents and my friends. While i was in IIM B for my research project, I actually had to write a letter to my dad to convince him, to let me do this, as I dont want to join NTPC. Moreover the job I was offered was not tempting to me. Although the package was handsome, but never felt like working there. So I took a decision which was good for both me and NTPC. I know its a great firm, and is rated amongst the best places to work in India. But my inclination towards startup brought me here.

Me: Tell us about your stay in IIM Banglore and details of your work you did there during internship.?
Zish : It was great fun, awesome learning and my best moments I have spent learning in any Institute. I came in contact with people who are the real champions in life, the real brave people whom we call 'Entrepreneurs'. My work there was based on the problem of Non Performing Assets (NPA) in the Indian Banking Industry, the task was to create a predictive model, which can help the bank predict the NPA in the coming year depending on the previous years' key statistical parameters. you can get the insight of it by clicking here ---> Bankers' Nightmare

Me: What Tips you want to give to our readers regarding their campus placement preparation.?
Zish Don't do what the guy/girl next to your room is doing. Analyze where you stand and prepare accordingly, talk, discuss to as many seniors you want and then do what you think will be best for you. Preparation is a must, be prepared. People who say that they have achieved without preparing don't realize that their deeds in the past has prepared them for it. So if this is not the case with you sit down and prepare.

Me: Tell us about your responsibility and work in Marketelligent. ?
Zish: Work in a start-up has a very wide domain, from everything to everything. Right now I am on a project with the Business Intelligence Unit of ICICI Bank which is our first client. Apart from the assignments in the client site, we have the responsibility of learning and propagating the effect. Helping the team in doing researches before pitching and lobbying for new clients etc.. and most importantly, enjoying the work and adding fun element to it.

Me: Tell us something about challenges you faced in ur college life or corporate life How did u tackle it.?
Zish : Challenges in college life were very few. I feel, this world has lots of things for a person to challenge himself. The best part of college life is you have numerous people to share your problems, and even numerous people to solve it. This all prepares one for the corporate world outside. Well the ragging in our times college itself was very challenging, later on I also found attending Prof. AKD's classes very challenging....

Me: What is your mantra for.success ?
Zish : There is a very famous saying and is very true "Success is never ending, failure is never final". Success to me is learning from failures. Loosing sometimes is not bad, but being a loser is. So learn from your failures, and you will never be a loser. Well, I am still learning the art.

Me: : What else you want to share with our readers who are preparing to pursue their higher studies and want to do management. ?
Zish : Most important is to know your cards well, before you play them. Don't take decisions in a hurry, just because the people around you are taking them. Just be your self, find out what suits you, what you want to be in life, and give it a whole hearted try, people are always there to guide you and misguide you. Its your life, it has to be your decision.

Me: Any incidence of your college life you want to share with our readers.?
Zish : So many, wont be fair to mention one. But one thing I would like to tell them is what alumnus usually say "If you haven't been to a place like NIT D, you've missed something in life dear". Enjoy your stay there.

Me: What do u want to say about this initiative (about this blog)?
Zish: This is some great work going on. I hope students of the college leverage this. Hats of to you guys.

Me: Thanks a lot for giving ur precious time .
Zish: Its my extreme pleasure.

An Odyssey to "Qila-i-Mubarak"

21st February,

Dont get it wrong. This odyssey was not an adventurous one. It was just a pleasant visit to the colossal Monument made by Great emperor ShahJahan in 1639 A.D.

Qila-i-Mubarak famously known as Lal-quila which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007 is a complete blend of high level of art form and ornamental work.

After entering into Lal -Quila through Lahore gate (main entrance of Lal-quila), we preferred to follow a team of foreigners who were accompanied by a tourist guide who was trying to allay the alacrity of foreigners by elaborating the history of every building inside the monument. There are many important buildings inside the fort premises, DIWAN-I-AM , NAHR-I-BEHISHT, ZENANA(which includes MUMTAZ MAHAL and lavish RANGMAHAL) MOTI MASJID and HAYAT BAKSH BAGH.

RED FORT is an evidence of the aesthetic success of MUGHAL creativity that was predominant during the dominion of SHAH-JAHAN.

If you are coming to Delhi you must visit this all time great monument and taste the alluring art work of Mughal reign.

CHAT WITH JUGANTOR CHETIA...

Hello friends , its an honour to have my dear Friend Jugantor Chetia on Rendezvous with Sandeep . Today, I will have a chat with this Dudester geek of N.I.T Durgapur .

JUGANTOR CHETIA:- JUG

SANDEEP CHOUDHARY:- ME

ME: Hello Jugantor, its my pleasure to chat with you on "Rendezvous with Sandeep".

JUG: Me Too. :)

ME: Please give ur brief introduction to our readers.

JUG: Well, ahem !! umm...I am Jugantor Chetia, a 2008 ECE passout from NIT Durgapur. Basically from Assam. Presently I am working as a project assistant in IISc, Bangalore. For all those who don't know what IISc stands for -- Indian Institute of Science.

ME: T ell us about your job profile and, How do u relate ur job profile with ur interest?

JUG : My research interests are basically oriented towards VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) Circuits Design -- dealing with transistors and stuffs. My job here basically deals at the VLSI Systems/Architecture level. I am , along with my team mates here working on the development of a runtime reconfigurable platform (processor). I dont want to go too much into its details, for I believe that might go above you guys' heads :). If anyone is particularly interested, he can surely contact me anytime. So, basically I believe now I have acquired a good hand at the VLSI systems level and having tasted it, I plan to go down the level into the Circuits domain and figure out how Circuit level issues impact the performance at the architecture l Level. Who knows , some other sunny day, I might land up working at the nano level :D

ME: After fetching job in one of the INDIA’S BEST PSU NTPC ,Why did u choose to do fellowship in IISC banglore.?

JUG: well, ya.. I would say this was one hell of a decision for me. Giving up a govt. job and that too of the kind of NTPC.. you have to hear a lot .. from your parents, neighbors and all your well wishers :) . But then, for me, I always had in my mind to go into deep electronics and explore its exciting world. I would say the turning point was the computer architecture course in my 5th sem. I thoroughly enjoyed it and almost made up my mind to pursue higher studies at some point and go into deep down electronics, work in some R & D sector in a semiconductor industry. I was of the view that NTPC wasn't going to provide me that (Disclaimer: This is totally my perception. Viewpoints may differ !!).Now, don't ask why I sat for NTPC. The IISc fellowship offer came to me after I got a job in NTPC, during my winter interns there. I had done my summer interns there on the power profiling of the H.264 Decoder. I thoroughly enjoyed the group there, the prof. and most importantly the work. So, I thought, this was a golden boot for me. I can work there, add the relevant research experience in my resume, add some papers to it and also might get the prof's recommendation. The prof. is a big guy in his field, let me tell you that. So, the decision was pretty straight forward. :)

ME: Jug ,what tips you want to give to our readers regarding their campus placement preparation.?

JUG: Tip 1. Be confident, dont feel nervous. Always remember, they have come to select you,no to reject.

Tip 2. Keep a smile on your face at the time of interview.
Tip 3. get some formals.
Tip 4. Try to look into the eyes of the interviewer as much as you can. eye contact helps.
Tip 5. regarding written exam, get some good quant skills. Practice R.S.Agarwal.
Tip 6. Choose an area of interest which you think you are good at. As for me, they asked me questions on digital electronics and one application oriented question.
Tip 7. If you have already got a job and are sitting for your 2nd job, prepare well, as to why you want a 2nd job.
Tip 8. A very important question for non-CS/IT guys: why are you interested in joining an IT company ?
Tip 9. If you have good acads, you are almost thru.
Tip 10. For those who dont have very good acads, pick up your area of interest and orient your answers towards that, so that the interviewer starts asking you questions on that and you can impress him quickly. :)

ME: Tell us somethimg about ur research work and project u carried out to strenghten ur profile .

JUG : Well, projects -- it all started with a small project in IITG. The turning point was my summer interns at IISc. I was well motivated to get myself coupled with a lot of guys to work with and finished with a pretty satisfactory number of projects by the end of my undergrad. most of my projects were related to my area of interest. But my suggestion is : even if u cant get a project of your interest, do something.. keep yourself busy and keep strengthening your profile. About my research work, as I have told earlier, most of it is concentrated towards the VLSI systems design.

ME: What strategy one should adapt while preparing for exams like gre and tell us in brief about application procedure and study material for GRE.

JUG : Oh ya, for me, GRE was one hell of an exam and that too I had a tough time preparing for it, as I was working too. So, my 1st suggestion, try writing the exam while you are studying. Frankly speaking, I am not the best person to talk about GRE as I didnt score well. Additionally, I am not very strong in English. I would suggest you better contact guys like Sudharsan Narayan (GRE: 1560). They can guide you better. Regarding study material, I guess Barron and Kaplan are enough. You do need to give lots and lots of tests. If you have a good vocab, you are half way through.
Application procedure. -- this is one of the most important steps and my sincere request to all MS/PhD aspirants, don't ever neglect this step. You need a minimum of 1.5-2 months to select the universities thats best suited to your profile, your interests and keeping in mind your financial expenses. I had the added advantage that I have a huge network abroad that comprises of school friends, seniors and ofcourse college friends and seniors. That means if you have a good network, do use that. If not, create them. Mail IIT guys via orkut and make them your friends. Use their knowledge to your own advantage and to know how they make things work. I am really thankful to all who have really helped me a lot.
Anyway, following are what I kept in my mind while deciding over the univs to app, acc. to preference.:

1) The ranking and reputation of the univ. But believe me, this is just one criterion. Dont base your selection of the univ solely on rankings. Rankings can be deceptive for they depend on a lot of factors.

2) Hows the univ and the department, the profs in my field. Go thru his projects and his publications. If he has got loads of publications and that too in recent conferences, that implies the prof is a good one :). I think I should have given this factor the topmost priority .. its really important !!

3) Expenses. Do you have enough finances to fund your education even if you get an admit ? Do remember that its extremely difficult to get aid during MS, atleast in the 1st sem/yr ? Do mail students in that univ to know abt the aid conditions and also on campus jobs ? Orkut will be of great help in this matter.

here is an example that happened to me. University of Michigan, Ann Arbor was in my dream cards. It has a damn good VLSI group. but this university is pretty costly and also I came to know by mailing one guy in U Mich that it hardly funds MS students. Subsequently, I had to drop it.

4) The job scene after MS and also oncampus jobs during MS.

5) The funding scene.

6) How many Indians ? too many indians means again the same competition for GPA, oncampus jobs and stuffs .. yeaks .. I hate that !!

7) Hows the place ? and how are the babes there ... hehe .. US is a place to enjoy and so, keep the enjoyment factor also on your cards. :D

8) Apply to few ambi, few mod and few safe univs. and yea... BE AMBITIOUS , yet safe.

ME: From which universities u got the admit and tell us about ur specialization ?why did u choose this subject for research.

JUG : I applied to 12 univs in the US.. I know the no. is big, but I had no other option. I have to get out of India this year by any means, for if I dont, I know I will be left nowhere :).
Till now, I have got admits from University of Minnesota Twin Cities, Arizona State University and Vanderbilt University.
I have apped for VLSI Circuits design. The reason, I think I have already answered why I want to go into this field(scroll up).

ME: Tell us something about challenges u faced in ur life while preparing to get an admit from good university and how did u tackle it.?

JUG : well, the biggest challenge was to convince my parents that I am not joining a highly paying job in NTPC and in turn joining a comparatively low paying job in IISc. Frankly speaking, very few people outside the engg. domain have heard about IISc. So, you can understand how tough it was. Secondly, I had to get few publications out to make my staying at IISc worthy enough. Getting a publication in electronics and that too in a dead field like VLSI architecture is real tough. I really had to dig my ass out to get one. Secondly, you really need to do a lot of work before selecting a university to app into. You need to mail the Prof., PhD or MS students there to know how the place is , how the dept. is and all tits and bits. This job, many a times, turns out to be a very important factor in your admit.

ME: What is ur mantra for.success ?

JUG : My mantra: Let people keep on talking shit about you. Its all your life and you have every right to live your life the way want. Atleast if you fail, you wont have anyone else but only you to blame. ("Jab We Met")

ME: Jug, tell us about ur experience at IISC BANGLORE.?

JUG : 1st of all, please dont create a hype man about my IISc thing. I know its pretty difficult to get in here, but if you try well, you can definitely make it to this place. IISc is hungry for good people.
IISc has got a very nice campus, excellent atmosphere for research and bla bla bla ... but the best part, you can never know how big the person sitting next to you is.. he/she might turn out to be some visiting prof. from Univ. of Pennsylvania (this is what happened to me :D)

ME: What else u want to share with our readers who are preparing to pursue their higher studies and want to do research work?

JUG : well, if you are seriously into research, then don't think much about money matters as of now. Think of that as investment :). Secondly, I believe its a fun to study abroad (atleast I believe so), So Stay Ambitious and Stay Connected !! and check out these sites : www.edulix.com , www.i20fever.com

ME:Any incidence of your college life you want to share with our readers ?

JUG: Aah ofcourse !! College life is the best part of your life and you are surely gonna miss it badly once you are out of it. The fun that you use to have in your hostel is something you will always miss. Every incident is worth preserving. But yea.. I had a small group there .. the kamur group -- Me, Anuj , Anupam, Dipak , Manash .. this is something I will always remember. Every moment with these guys was full of fun and only fun.

ME: What do u want to say about this initiative (about this blog)?

JUG : This is an awesome step. Hats off to Sandeep. Every good college has something like this. All IITs have a superb alumni. NIT Trichy has a group called ROTGAD (realization of the great american dream :)). So good job Sandeep.

ME: Thanks a lot for giving your precious time .I Hope our readers will surely get benefited from this enlighted discussion.

JUG : My Pleasure

A Cherubic Gal---Chapter 1

7th August, 2004 ... 5:00 pm

While writing this post my mind dates back to the 1st year of my college life when I first saw that gal , her seraphic face and innocence which enticed me towards her and made me crazy .

I am grateful to one of my senior who ordered me to ask the name of that gal.

"Excuse me, I am first year student and my senior told me to ask your name, can you please save me from that anti-hero by telling your name ?", I asked.

"I am Kashish " ,she told in her inherently melodious voice.

I assumed myself as Shahrukh Khan and that gal as Kajol but I couldnt talk to her much as my senior (Amrish puri) was waiting for me.

Me(Yash) : "Thank u very much ", you saved me.

Kashish (smiling): "Its ok".

I turned back towards my hostel and suddenly I started singing "$ AAJ PHIR JEENE KI TAMANNA HE, AAJ PHIR MARNE KA IRADA HE $..".

"Abe idhar aa main maar deta hoon (come here I will make ur humble desire come true) ",
shouted my senior.

Anti-hero(senior): "I am waiting for you from past 15 minutes. Wat the hell were you doing?".

Me:" Sir , I asked her name. She is Kashish. She is gorgeous sir ".

!@#$!@#$###$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ (Slapped.....................................)

My senior slapped me as he just told me to ask her name , he didnt ask how she looks.

I accepted that slap sportingly as I deserved that .(In ragging you are not supposed to do
anything extra and I breached that rule.)

7th august,2004 - 9:00 pm

Everybody from 1st year came back to hostel . (Hostel in 1st year is heaven for every junior as it shields you from the seniors who roam like hungry beasts outside the hostel in search of their prey.)

Me: "Hey Vicky ,how are you dude"?

Vicky: "Screwed up man. I cant tolerate all this yaar."

Me: " Cheer up buddy, we are destined to bear this, its matter of few months ,then we will be
free. You know what, today I spoke to Kashish.

Vicky: "Who the hell is dat ?".

Me: " She is from out of this world man".

Vicky: " What? An alien is also studying with us. I didnt know dat."

Me: "F**k you man .Dont crack bad jokes and specially when I am talking about my love."

Vicky:" Dont tell me. How can u talk about love only by seeing face? You dont even know her full name. "

Me: "Her one glimpse was sufficient enough to ram into my heart and remain there forever. Tommorow is our first class. You come to my class and see that girl. You will get your answer".

To be continued.....................
